ABOUT US

The Mpls Lady Lakers Basketball Club is dedicated in providing girls opportunities through the game of basketball.
Basketball is used to help the girls develop their talents and abilities.
Basketball is the medium The Mpls Lady Lakers Basketball Club uses to help build strong self-esteem, encourage goal setting, teach social skills, and academic intervention amongst the girls.
We aim to teach these young girls the important skills that will help them succeed.

Our Mission

The mission of the Mpls Lady Lakers Basketball Club is to provide a variety of positive opportunities through basketball for college bound athletes.
These opportunities are made accessible to young women of all cultural backgrounds and financial status' by our program and its' commitment to meet those needs.
We fully intend to satisfy the hearts and desire of those ambitious young athletes, at the same time aide these young women in exposing their talent.
Our program and its' prestige will open up many promising paths for these "young women on a mission," that will lead to countless future successes.

Our History

The Mpls Lady Lakers Basketball Club is a non-profit youth sports organization which began in 2001. The Lady Lakers was started by two fifth grade girls and one of their fathers. These girls wanted to play competitive basketball, at the same time wanted to make it possible for other urban girls to play who could not afford the high team fees associated with travel sports. These were 'young women on a mission.'

Mark Aune, the Head of Basketball Operations, was the father that gave the girls hope. By supporting one tournament team, and park board play the organization, has grown and formed to become a premier basketball club that does not charge player fees, but all monies are created from individual and team fundraising, donations, and grants.

Our goal is to aid girls with the proper tools and guidance to achieve success in the future. Along, with developing parent involvement, character and leadership skills, and improving academic performance. Participation in girls' basketball gives our athletes invaluable experience, friendships, and scholarship opportunities they might never have dreamed possible.

Our hope is that their experience with the Mpls Lady Lakers Girls' Basketball Club will continue to open doors for girls who wish to participate in women's basketball at the college level and beyond.
